About an hour ago I was talking to an acquaintance who told me that tomorrow he's taking his family on their summer holiday. About the same time I received an email from a local pub inviting me to choose from their Christmas menu.

I have no intention of selecting a meal which I won't eat for three and a half months.

Christmas can feck off.

I know, it's getting ridiculous.........shrove tuesday isn't until next march, yet the shops are already selling eggs and flour!!!

I just bought an Xmas present for someone. I know , humiliation and scorn will follow but I'm fed up with being late and scratching around for desperation gifts. I've stopped giving a flying feck about the whole bloody thing. I am expected to give and it's bloody easier to decide now than in the maelstrom of the xmas run up.
I shall oil the scourge and take to myself as penance.

I stopped buying Christmas presents for everyone several years ago. I told them all that I wasn't going to waste my time buying a load of tat that they didn't really want, and they were not to buy me the usual shirt and tie of which I had at least twenty unopened in my chest of drawers.

I got totally fed up being given packs of 'Deodorant for Men' smelling rather like an open sewer, various Christmas hampers comprising of some stuff which looked (and probably tasted) like something the cat had regurgitated, ties by the dozen, stupid items such as 'Willie Warmers', DVD's which I couldn't wait to give away to some charity shop, and to top it all, some idiot would always buy me a Christmas Pudding which used to join the other fifteen at the back of the cupboard and which had been there since the dawn of time!!!!!

Christmas?????????????? Just Ffuk off and leave me alone!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooner it's over, with it's false bonhomie and all that shyte, the better as far as I am concerned. Bah! Humbug!

Given it's been another rotten year (even more so than usual), I'm really not in the mood this year. Usually, I will at least stock up on some ale and spirits and enjoy a few short days off work. I can't even be bothered to do that.

With the way I'm feeling at the moment, Christmas is officially cancelled in the Depressed household.

One particular restaurant which I like (and have mysteriously found myself on their mailing list) sent me their 'Book now for Christmas!' menu last week. There's a catch... The only way they'll reserve you a table is if you buy a £100-odd bottle of champagne ( ) which they'll serve to you on arrival.

Umm... I think I'll pass on that, thanks.
