Re: The Honourable Member for the 18th century.

I think Members of Parliament should be prepared to stand up and be counted. There exists a culture of self interest in Government which gives all Parliamentarians a bad name. Even if standing up to be counted means you are no longer in your job because you disagree with the party leader, that is t...

Re: The Honourable Member for the 18th century.

What I would like to know is how MPs can get away with having a secret ballot. When a Candidate is elected by the Public it needs to be by secret ballot but once they are elected they have nailed their colours to the mast - so to speak - and in my opinion are duty bound to make clear if they suppor...

Re: The Honourable Member for the 18th century.

But you don't vote for PM at a GE, you vote for your constituent MP. I agree with your comments about crossing the floor but if a governing party is prohibited from changing its leader mid-parliament then the same restriction would have to apply to all partys. I know you don't vote for a PM at a GE...

Re: Chilli with everything

I only have one food allergy, and that is cooked green peppers, I'm okay with red, yellow or orange peppers but those green buggers have me throwing up all night long. it starts off with chronic stomach acid followed by vomiting, I was okay with them until around 18 years ago. Over time it has becom...

Re: Please retire gracefully...

I agree with you 100%. My favourite part was the airborne drone light display, consisting of 700 drones all computer controlled it was quite stunning. As an ex serviceman I did get an invite to be there on Friday, No way would I travel all the way to London to suffer all that shite, wild horses woul...

Re: The Obituary Thread

Dennis Waterman has left us ; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-61372712 He was on everything in the 70-80s, he buggered up his career by admitting he knocked his wife ( Rula Lenska) about. It took him a long while to get back in the limelight. Loved some of the parts he played, I had n...

Re: Countryfile has lost its way

The country file programme is about as remote from farming as you could possibly get. The one BBC nature presenter that I would love to punch is Chris Packham, he is a total twat who lives on his own little planet. He seems to think that farmers should not shoot birds that destroy or damage crops. t...

You will not remember just how much you enjoy a nice cup of tea then?
I hate tea, not drunk it since I was about 5 years old. Horrid stuff.

Re: News from Jethro's family

Thanks to all of you who wished me a good recovery. I do not remember much about it, to be honest. I remember going towards the woods with the dog and waking up 4 days later in the hospital. I'm told the dog raised the alarm by running back to the house barking like crazy. From what I gather a large...

Re: Vladimir Putin

I am simply repeating what Gen. Lord Dannatt (former chief of the British Army) said last night. He said Putin was at the height of his powers - or "madness" - as he would say. If HE says Putin is mad then that's what I will go with. I wonder what Lord Dannatt really thinks, I very much d...

Re: Vladimir Putin

Putin is not behaving rationally. Not at any level. He has a completely distorted view of reality. Russian forces destroyed Kiev in WW2 when they encircled the city and submitted it to relentless bombardment. At that time the Russian forces were motivated as the Nazis had occupied the city. Putin t...

Re: Vladimir Putin

I get frustrated at the "he is mad" explanation for the goings on in Ukraine . He has been leading up to this for years. He was a KGB officer in East Germany, he made his way to the top by any means he could. Far from mad, he is clever but evil, he has handpicked all of those within his i...
