Image

Taken from my back garden, a few days ago, Used my Canon eos 70d and a canon 18-55mm lens, set at wide angle. First attempt after researching how to do it.

A lovely image, much appreciated. I particularly like the detail in the original much larger image.

Thank you-
The original image I posted was too big, but I know what you mean about the detail, especially the shooting star top left.

In reality I couldn't see any of this with the naked eye believe it or not. Having studied star maps for this month I knew where the MW would be, a few degrees off North to South. That's the way the width of our backyard runs. A 15 second exposure with the lens wide open did the job- amazed (but shouldn't be I guess) at the light gathering abilities of modern Digital Cameras. After the shot was taken I checked the image on the screen and nearly fell Over! Took a few minutes in Photoshop to bring out the detail though!
