Personally I do not agree with any sort of regulation. The forum looks okay to me. I did not join this site to be told what I can and cannot post.

One thing I will say though: no more personal chit chat. Now THAT is chat room stuff. I am pleased that Holly is engaged, that TDA and Miss D are together, etc etc, but unless it is connected someway to a grump, keep the "How's the BF?" comments to PMs. Please.

Huh?

The only person saying what can and can't be posted is you old boy!

We are discussing the best place for the banter, not whether it should be banned or not.

Woodrow Wilson once said "if you want to make enemies, try to change something!"

Caution would be my watchword, SJ.

As Jimi Hendrix said "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."

and as TDA once said "nobody notices a good referee..."

And as Marge Simpson said

"I don’t want to leave Springfield. I’ve dug myself into a happy little rut here and I’m not about to hoist myself out of it "

Not as good as the great Homer Simpson though

"Marge, don’t discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It’s what separates us from the animals … except the weasel "

I think this is an excellent idea SJ and about bleedin' time too!

Why has it taken you so long to get a grip of this place?
Way too much fluffy wuffy chatter and not the serious debate I have come to expect!

I hope that all Grumpers appreciate your efforts as I do!

Now then, where did I put my bile...

We have to try something to get you back to your old ways TDA!

It was the bacon sandwiches that started all this damn happiness, refrain from them for a time and you'll be right!

Basically it's about people who are too lazy to read topics properly, then just stick in an irrelevant one line reply.

Hello thread.

I have one simple suggestion. If a topic originator cares about whether or not the thread can drift he/she should maybe post a little 'Keep on topic please' at the end of their original post. Just a little polite request should probably do the trick, but may well doom the thread to one reply and a gentle downward sink.

Hello thread...........

So! despite all the shouting we CAN still find threads after they have been moved. This is down to the neat little trick of taking you via an e-mail link to wherever it went when it is posted to by someone.

Like I was just now. Sort of negates the whole argument doesn't it?

You don't need to know where it is if you have posted to it or marked it with 'follow thread' option.
