Or even Pedants' Forum - unless of course, you're claiming the title all to yourself

I wanted it to be called the Which Tyler memorial forum (after JTB's classic thread about the Pedants' revolt http://www.grumpieroldmen.co.uk/forum/p ... hp?t=17168)

Anyway anyone want to get picky on grammar and spelling and we have a new naughty stair just waiting  .

The title is correct as it is a forum for pedants. The forum does not belong to the pedants.

Shouldn't that be naughty stairs, or if it's singular, a naughty step?

Oh FFS! But yes you're probably right. With the final coming up I can't be arsed to go and check.

In that case should not a flight of stairs be called a "stepway"

I think you'll find the title is possessive, and thus warrants an apostrophe, my sledge-hammer wielding comrade.

Agreed - but where.

Singular or plural?

How about a Peasants' Forum

Didn't your English teacher tell you not to repeat words in the same sentence, wherever avoidable Steve?

Nice to see..............to a good start, looks better?

Negative, the forum is a forum for pedants and does not belong to the pedants hence " Pedants Forum" If it belonged to the pedants it would read "Pedant's Forum" but it doesn't and it isn't . :P

NO, NO, NO - if it belonged to a pedant (singular) it would be Pedant's Forum. If it belonged to the pedants (plural and also implied by your post) it would have to be Pedants' Forum.

Bottom of the class boy.

Anyway. It's clear that the forum belongs to pedants, therefore the possessive must prevail :D

My primary school teacher hated the word 'nice', and wouldn't allow us to use it. --
