All these political posturing and shenanigans at Westminster seem to ominously echo what is happening across "The Pond" with another politician with a funny hair cut and both of whom are being manipulated behind the scenes by "Special Advisers" who are not elected and answer to no one.

Mark my words there will be much more ministerial blood on the carpets at 10 Downing Street in the future when things do not go according to the plans and wishes of the Puppet Master and not the elected Prime Minister

Who is behind the Puppet Master and why? any ideas

AFAIAA Spads can be hired and fired at the whim of their minister, how are they pulling the strings?

I declare this grump invalid.

You can't know it all. I hope they are accepting advise from those who have a specialist knowledge.
Maybe those who have the countries interest at heart.

I know feck all about many things but if I were to attempt to fix my roof I would seek advise from one or more roofers.

I reckon its a valid enough grump when pricks such as Alastair Campbell are appointed.

Dippy, please reconsider the validity of this grump. Love Crutch x

Thank you for re-instating my grump - it was not strictly a grump more a comment about Dominic Cummings. Yesterday there was a long piece in the BBC News website about what a nice, thoughtful and clever chap he is, always kind to children, dumb animals and willing to stop to help old ladies across the road. PR pieces like this always make me very suspicious and think the worst about the subject of the piece - perhaps I am being just a tiny bit cynical

Two weeks ago it was announced that the Chinese HuaWei electronics giant would be setting up the 5G telephone system for this country. Yesterday it was announced that the government was having discussions with a Chinese rail construction company about taking over the construction of the HS2 rail project on the grounds that the Chinese would be able to do it more quickly and more cheaply than British construction companies who are at present involved in the project. HS2 is a rather unfortunate name for the project - it is very close to H2S very apt in my opinion as the entire project is beginning to smell. With so much Chinese involvement in the infrastructure of this country what is to follow I wonder - is this country simply exchanging Beijing for Brussels?

Still we must look on the bright side -perhaps when the next COVID 19 strikes the Chinese will outsource the manufacturing of face masks to this country, at the present time 50% of the face masks used in this country are made in China

Could it be that the situation is the opposite to what we are being led to believe and in reality Boris likes to deflect criticism onto someone else; anyone else - and who better than his Special Advisor. I notice he wanted Sajid Javid to fire his advisors. If the PM can sack his Chancellor (or get him to resign) surely he could have fired Treasury Advisers. I just don't know what is going on but I doubt everything is as it seems.
