My take on these countries, cons only

Portugal

Cold sea, small, prices likely to rocket, likely to be very crowded

Singapore

Hot and humid all year, very small, hardly any beaches, quite expensive

Australia and NZ

24 hours flight

Brunei

Jungle, snakes mosquitoes, hot and humid, long flight

Iceland

Not my scene

Gibraltar

Awful place ugly people one beach, full of tatty shops

Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands,

St Helena, Tristan de Cunha and Ascension Island

Hardly the Med,

I want to go to France, Spain, or Italy, down the Danube, and perhaps Croatia.

One has to wonder what type of person seems it essential to have a foreign holiday, when they have been on furlough doing f*** all for a year.
One also has to wonder that if they are paying the inflated holiday prices,, furlough pay was set too high?

Hang on rude person.

I am dying to have a holiday in Spain. Before we sold our apartment in Spain three years ago we would spend up to four months a year there. I would far prefer to do **** all in Calpe that in Calcot.

Scratch Portugal.

If you can get a flight (£700) landing here before 4pm next Tuesday you will not have to quarantine and test, Do not be late.

Skegness looks nice!

So, to go make it clear, we can only travel to countries that voted for us in the Eurovision Song Contest.

So, the "Green list" apears to be, (from the FCO website) ;

Australia
Brunei
Falkland Islands
Faroe Islands
Gibraltar
Iceland
Israel and Jerusalem
New Zealand
Singapore
South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands
St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

Enjoy your summer hols everyone - we're heading for Cornwall in mid July, which has proved to be slightly less expensive than a 90 day world cruise in the owner's suite.

(Jethro - listen out for me on GB3NC)

It's sad when you get to the stage where you must have alcohol to enjoy yourself.

It is sad when, at any age, you make unsubstantiated assumptions.

I post about a wonderful destination and all you can do is query the price of booze. What other inference should I draw?

That's what happens when you try and take the piss badly by the way.

.... in all fairness, I think Mr. Dance may have been ironically refering to Iceland the low cost frozen food vendor, as I was in our local Iceland the other day buying Hindmistress's preferred Belgian chocolate ice creams ( £1 for four, excellent value) and I noticed whilst lined up for the till that they also sell a small selection of alcoholic drinks that would appeal to the lower orders.

My post was not a result of alcohol dependency bu bringing to GOMs' attenrtion the high cost of living in Iceland.

On a list of 100 countries, Icelqnd would be near the bottom, I prefer a warm climate, a warm sea, and a Mediterranean diet.
