We moved counties earlier this month and are now finding out what is recyclable in Wiltshire compared to Bedfordshire. Different bins , different categories and different items are acceptable. What sort of plastic or paper is a mystery. My question is simple.

Why does every Council need to be different? Why can they not have a meeting, agree what is acceptable and how to do it? At the end of the expensive process, most of it will be shipped off to Malaysian land fill anyway.

Great Thunderthighs, the Swedish eco warrior has a point about doing more, starting with the Council. If they simplified what goes where, it should lead to more being put in the right bins. Of course, if they decided to make all packaging recyclable and banned plastic bags/wrapping etc, it might help.

Two things all councils have in common is the rude morons who work at the dump ensuring you avoid them like the plague , and the ridiculous charges that ensure pikeys can earn a good living from fly tipping.

The problem with retirement is that you never get a day off.

The problem with playing golf with the seniors is that half the players could not see where your ball went and the other half can not remember.
