I think it would have been fun if he'd gone up one rank to Major...

I know I'm late to this one, but also wishing Captain Tom a Belated Happy 100th Birthday.

Seeing his face when the flyover took place genuinely made my day. I was happy for the old boy and I wish him all the best.

You certainly won't see that level of determination or pride from today's 'entitled' youngsters when they're old and frail towards the end of the century.

How can you possibly know that?

Correct decision.

He is the only bit of good news to come out of this horror story.

Absolutely!

Congratulations and possibly the most well-deserved K this century. :salut: :salut: :salut:

I'd like to also extend my congratulations to Captain Tom Moore on his knighthood.

Well done and thoroughly deserved, old boy. :salut:

Why is it that we are so obsessed with these tokens of recognition?

Well his family home is worth a fortune and at 100 money is not much good, so a knighthood is the only way to give him the recognition he deserves.

I really do not have a problem with it.
Dozy Mo Farar got a knighthood for running around a track and getting loads of cash from sponsorship, that made him very wealthy. Why TF did he get Knighted?
Bradly Wiggins rode his bike to victory again a lot of money in it for him. Why TF did he get Knighted?
Capt Tom did it for a good cause, not for his own gain. His Knighthood was a good reward for his efforts at 100 years of age. :salut: :salut: :salut:

I guess it is a personal opinion but I have never felt the need to seek approval for my efforts.

I am more than happy to let others compete for the Brownie points. :D
